Innovations

Launching with Laura

My work focuses on designing and launching innovative academic programs, courses, and initiatives that expand access to public health education across academic and community settings. These efforts span degree and non-degree programs, workforce development initiatives, and curriculum innovation aligned with accreditation standards and evolving workforce needs.

In the Classroom

I have led the development, revision, and coordination of multiple core courses across MPH, MS, and DrPH programs to ensure alignment with CEPH competencies, instructional quality, and consistent delivery across modalities. Key contributions include:

  • Core Course Leadership and Development: Developed and/or co-developed required courses including Public Health Foundations, Leadership and Management Essentials for Public Health, and Effectively Teaching and Training Adults, integrating active learning, applied assessment, and modality-flexible design.

  • Course Revision and Innovation: Led ongoing revisions to Social and Behavioral Health Sciences in Public Health, incorporating updated content, diverse perspectives, and anti-racism curriculum components.

  • Instructional Infrastructure: Designed comprehensive Canvas course templates and provided ongoing mentorship to faculty, adjunct instructors, and doctoral students to support consistent, high-quality course delivery across in-person, hybrid, and online formats.

  • Pedagogical Advancement: Co-developed and continue to support the SPH Toolkit for Course Design & Pedagogy, and led faculty development workshops focused on innovative teaching and educational technologies.

Program Innovation

I have overseen and guided the development, review, and implementation of new academic programs, concentrations, and partnerships to ensure alignment with institutional priorities, accreditation standards, and workforce needs. Recent efforts include:

  • New Degree Programs: Oversight of new MS degree programs and Online MPH programs, including multiple new concentrations.

  • Curriculum Innovation: Involvement in School-wide initiatives such as the Curriculum Assessment and integration of anti-racism curriculum across core courses.

  • Partnerships and Pathways: Oversight of dual degrees and academic partnerships that expand access to public health training and certificate programs.

Beyond the Classroom

My work extends beyond traditional degree programs to create accessible, experiential learning opportunities for high school students.
